I am sorry, but I don't agree that Trump continuously calls this a failure of a nation. He practically wraps himself in the American flag every day. I don't see anything but a love for our country in everything he does. But then, I'm a Republican patriot, so maybe I see things differently.
I suppose it won't make me any friends here when I say the Democratic Party makes it pretty plain they hold Patriotism & anyone who claims to be a Patriot in open contempt. "Inherently Racist" ring any bells? Maybe "Jim Crow 2.0"?
The fact is the Democratic Party comes off has more interested and the Party of Mexico, El Salvador, Haiti rather than a Party of the US or representing US voter's interests. Witness their support of "Free Trade" no matter it's effect on the Working Class or the Private Sector Unions they purport to support.
All the Democrats said was "How wonderful this agreement will be for the people of...." Their own voter's? Who cares?
And people start pointing fingers... I've never voted GOP in my life. But I'd rather vote for a Dancing, Singing Purple Dinosaur than any candidate offered in the last 30+ years.
I've given up on voting and withdrawn because the Candidates aren't worth voting for and nothing will change anyway. A plague on both Houses.
I notice things flag make some on the left uneasy, I have one in front of my house which is on the main drag. The guy across the street who is a great guy though of the other team politically also has one in a flag pole no less and often flies other flags beneath, Gadsden, state flag, etc. I use his flags as a weather vane all the time. Wind out of the east with the smell of the stockyards means watch out.
I'd like to see something similar to the selective service again. Some sort of mandatory service for just about everyone.

I think it’s difficult to accuse both sides of an equal lack of patriotism.
I see where you are going with this but disagree with the assessment. When Tucker Carlson objects to the "Epstein class" he is not being unpatriotic to America but criticizing an element within its population that has earned the questions it is receiving. Similarly, Trump's attempts to show respect for what is good in America would be considered pretty standard patriotism if any other president had done the same things on their watch. This suggests that the patriotism problem really is on the Democrat side ONLY. Part of the problem with Democrats as a group is that they incorrectly assume that the positions they hold automatically represent the dominant and "correct" position on the topic in question. This is demonstrably false on many, some might argue, most topics today. Until Democrats recognize that THEY have strayed from the center on these issues, there is little reason to believe they will regain majority support in the country. Trying to hide this behind "what about-ism" on Republicans and Independents isn't going to work.
