Dark MAGA Police Reporting Part 4
The Cory Mills scandals are piling up, now is the chance to oust him from Congress
For the past year, we’ve covered the very weird saga of Rep. Cory Mills and… it’s just getting worse.
This week, a Florida judge issued a restraining order against Rep. Cory Mills for “protection against dating violence.” In August his ex-girlfriend filed for a restraining order:
Lindsey Langston, a Florida Republican state committeewoman and the reigning Miss United States, has filed a restraining order against Florida Republican Rep. Cory Mills, after reporting him to local and state law enforcement for harassment, threatening to release sexual videos, and to harm future boyfriends.
Langston told Drop Site News she and Mills began dating in November of 2021, and that she moved in with him at his rented Florida residence last summer. She broke up with him this February when she learned he had a second girlfriend from national news reports—the second girlfriend had reported Mills to police for allegedly assaulting her at their Washington, D.C. condo (though the woman, Sarah Raviani, later walked those allegations back).
The judges comments are brutal:
The judge found Mills lied a lot — e.g., he “never told the truth” to his ex about another woman “until he was placed under oath in this matter and underwent a vigorous cross-examination.” His ex “finally heard the truth,” the judge wrote, “at the same time he told this Court.”
The court found Mills’s attempts to explain his side of the story “for the most part incomprehensible.”
This is not a person who should be in Congress. But unless the GOP gets rid of him (unlikely), Democrats will have to do the job. The problem is they haven’t been investing nearly enough.
In 2022, the Democratic challenger in FL-7 raised less than $70,000. Without a credibly funded challenger, Cory Mills blew away his Democratic opponent in a district similar to those won by Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and nearly won by Adam Frisch. Both of those campaigns narrowly emerged from the vicious cycle that is predictably bonkers: center-right districts are not rated as competitive by the political ratings agencies, so candidates don’t get resources, and then because candidates don’t have resources the ratings agencies keep them rated as “Safe Republican.”
In 2024, Mills had a compelling challenger and the Democrat ran 3.4 points ahead of a generic Democrat. That wasn’t enough - Trump won the district by 12.5 points in 2024. But in 2020, Trump won by only 5.5. In a Blue Wave-ish midterm environment, Democrats can win. But only if they can communicate at a high level to independent voters.
The 2026 cycle is the best opportunity Democrats will have to get rid of Mills.
Cory Mills Lied About His Bronze Star
The dark drama swirling around Rep. Cory Mills just keeps getting worse. Today, the news broke that Rep. Mills may have lied about the heroic actions for which he was awarded a Bronze Star.
Mills was awarded the star after January 2021. Four years later, five people who served with him — including two of the men the document says Mills saved in different incidents — say they have no recollection of Mills being at the incidents listed on the form.
“He didn’t save my life,” Private First Class Joe Heit, who is cited by name on the recommendation form as one of the soldiers Mills saved, told NOTUS. “I don’t recall him being there either.”
The lies and scandals keep piling up for Mills. Domestic violence, ethics violations and now lies about his military record. According to NOTUS, these concerns may reach the threshold of criminality and are currently being investigated by the Office of Congressional Ethics.
In a midterm environment with a growing Democratic edge in the generic ballot this race is winnable, and Jennifer Adams will be running again. You can follow Jennifer Adams on X and Facebook to amplify as she holds Mills accountable. Our previous coverage of Mills is below.
Cory Mills Investigated By House Ethics Committee
Rep. Cory Mills, the Dark MAGA Congressman whose domestic violence allegations have conveniently been sidelined by the MAGA DOJ (which sees itself as Trump’s personal attorneys, and increasingly appears to be).
But Mills isn’t just an accused domestic abuser, his business dealings over the past several years have been incredibly shady.
So shady that even the Republican controlled House Ethics Committee had to take up the case:
Rep. Cory Mills, a Florida Republican, allegedly held weapons contracts with the federal government while serving in Congress, according to a report from the Office of Congressional Conduct, the nonpartisan entity tasked with receiving and reviewing ethics complaints against sitting House members.
The Office of Congressional Conduct — up until recently known as the Office of Congressional Ethics — found “substantial reason to believe that Rep. Mills may have entered into, held, or enjoyed contracts with federal agencies while serving in Congress.”
The House Ethics Committee received the OCC’s referral last year and announced on Thursday it plans to consider the allegations and make its own determination as to whether Mills acted in violation of House rules, which could result in some formal punishment depending on the investigation’s conclusions. In announcing those plans, the committee also published a 33-page report from the OCC detailing Mills’ potential misconduct.
What’s going on?
While in Congress, Cory Mills’ business has been benefiting from government money:
Mills was sworn into Congress in January 2023.
Since that time, “Pacem Defense/ALS” — the name of two entities tied to Mills and his wife — has received nearly $1,000,000 for munition and weapons for prisons, the report found. Another entity, Pacem Solutions, entered into a contract with the federal government last May for about $11,600.
The report also noted some confusion around the distinction between the various entities receiving government dollars that were associated with Mills.
Certainly sounds like something DOGE could take a look at, if they weren’t busy kicking very much alive people off of Social Security by claiming they are dead.
With Republicans shaking in their boots over the recent special election results and openly worrying about winning safe Florida seats, Cory Mills could actually be at risk this cycle.
Cory Mills’s Shady Past
News is insane these days, but you may recall this double-take-worthy news from last month:
Cory Mills is Dark MAGA personified.
NBC Washington has the police report:
“(Her significant other for over a year) grabbed her, shoved her, and pushed her out of the door.” The report says she showed the officer “bruises on her arm which appeared fresh.”
The first report goes on to note that during a phone call between the significant other and alleged victim, she “let officers hear Subject 1 [now identified by MPD as Mills] instruct her to lie about the origin of her bruises … Eventually, Subject 1 made contact with police and admitted that the situation escalated from verbal to physical, but it was severe enough to create bruising.”
We have been watching Mills, who looks like the type of dangerous extremist oddball who has underperformed in recent years - when challenged with significant resources.
Mills is married with two children. And he is hardcore MAGA in a district that is not (Trump won 52.2% of voters in FL-7 in 2020, Trump won 61% of the vote in the Florida 6 district Republicans are currently worried about holding). And he is not just MAGA - there is something deeply weird about his path to Congress.
In late January 2021, Mills was making local news in Virginia as a consultant in Falls Church, VA where he lived in a $4.2m, 11,000 square foot house. The business, as Business Insider later reported, “sells arms to foreign governments. He won't say which ones … Mills has refused to publicly disclose his foreign dealings or even confirm who owns the company.”
A few weeks later, on March 23, 2021, Mills registered to vote in what rival Republicans called “a wee bitty house” owned by a Democratic work connection. Two weeks later, in April, Mills launched a congressional campaign saying he “recently moved to a house in Winter Park from a family home outside the district. He also maintains a residence in the Washington area, where one of his companies is headquartered.”
That company has some issues.
Pacem is also loaded with debt: It owes $48 million to a Canadian lender, nearly five times the company's highest potential valuation. Mills said the loan was funding research and development.
There are additional issues that have dogged the company. In the past two years, the munitions plant has been forced to shut down twice for failing to pay workers' compensation insurance premiums, according to Florida's Department of Workers Compensation.
According to financial disclosures from Mills, two of his companies are worth “anywhere from $10 million down to just $2 million.”
Speaking of $2 million, that is how much Mills owes his campaign committee - a campaign that ended 2023 with less than $70,000 in the bank.
Ok, so besides all the company debt, and campaign debt, and arms dealings with undisclosed foreign companies, and having just moved to the district, Mills also has some basic MAGA baggage. Here is how an analysis of last cycle’s freshman Representatives summed up Mills:
Mills does not view Biden as the “legitimate” president because of what he calls a “multitude of fraud that has been found throughout multiple states.” In the days after the 2020 election, he called on Republicans in Congress to support and fight for President Trump and the “America First agenda” and spoke at a “Stop the Steal” rally in Dallas, Texas. He also believes the House committee investigating the January 6 insurrection is biased and politically motivated, arguing it should instead focus on auditing the 2020 election … Mills would support returning to a system where US senators are chosen by state legislatures.
He joked about Nancy Pelosi’s husband being violently attacked. He filed a bill to imprison book publishers for five years and wants to cut off aid to Ukraine and “redefine birthright citizenship.”
Here’s a headline and pic just to round it out:
