The Low Pressure Resistance
Gallup shows Americans want Dems to the center; Indivisible needs to scrub its website
While some allegedly “resistance” organizations like Indivisible have been frantically trying to whip up anger at Democratic members for being too moderate, new Gallup data suggests that actual Democratic voters are in a very different place.
Like most Americans, Democratic voters want Democrats to be more moderate.
Gallup polling released today shows a contrast from 2021, when Democratic voters were equally likely to think the party should move in a more liberal direction as a more moderate direction. By 2025, there is a significant 16-point shift toward the political center.
The Indivisible Team still has a page dedicated to harassing members in moderate caucuses like the Problem Solvers and Blue Dogs. These members hold nearly all of the hard-to-win seats that determine a Congressional majority.
Here’s a take on that from the canine caucus, which represents four of the five most overperforming candidates from either party:
The dog later retweeted a user who put a finer touch on it:
Pressure groups like Indivisible should find the pressure going the other way: they should delete their materials attacking Democrats for not leading a leftist revolution.
I wasn’t a physics major, but there seems to be an unwritten law of political science: pressure always moves in one direction or the other.
Democratic voters have made their position clear: the pressure is now shifting in the opposite direction.
