I have always objected to the use of the term 'white' as a substitute for 'non-Hispanic white'. Hispanic people can be of any race- white, black, points in between. Native American, nor should they be distinguished from other immigrant groups like Italians, German speakers, as by definition they are people who just happened to come from countries where Spanish was spoken (then the issue of whether Brazilians who speak Portuguese or Caribbeans who might speak French, English, Dutch, etc.
Latinos ( (actually a better term than Hispanic including Brazilians but not Spaniards from Spain) tend to vote Democratic in exactly the same manner that historically most immigrants were Dem supporters originally- Irish, German, Jewish, Italian, etc. because the Democratic Party represented the interests of immigrants and cities. Over time these immigrants Americanized and their politics were no different than others. To expect Latinos to continue being strong Democratic supporters and act differently than every other immigrant group is speculative at best.
I thought black people weren't a monolith. So why do we have to vote as if we are? https://tinyurl.com/thcrs3z
Good article.
