The “Moderates” v. “”Moderates”” debate fits in somewhere here I think

The Fowler paper is really insightful here. When you look at how Democrats shifted on raical issues and the voter realignment that followed, it shows that policy positions have real consequnces even if they take time to manifest. The fact that 74% voted along party lines but 26% deviated based on candidate info is actually substanial when margins are this tight.
